On the 1600 block of West Snow Avenue, the year's biggest Hyde Park Village arrivals now face the sidewalk. LoveShackFancy opened at 1619 W. Snow Ave. on July 10, in the space J. McLaughlin used to occupy. Eighteen days later Ralph Lauren cut the ribbon at 1609 W. Snow Ave., next to Buddy Brew.
Neither one serves dinner. Every new restaurant that opened around Hyde Park between July and early October did so outside the Village's footprint, along South Howard Avenue and up on North Rome Avenue. Our research turned up no dated restaurant opening, closing or chef change inside the Village during that stretch. In 2026 the Village became the neighborhood's shopping street, and its seasonal calendar is now what brings people back onto Village Circle.
What moved onto Snow Avenue and Village Circle
The Ralph Lauren store was built for this location. That's So Tampa's report on the opening describes cherry wood and white millwork with brass hardware, plus a vintage 35-foot racing scull from the company's private collection hanging from the ceiling. The brand says the design draws on the boats moored at nearby marinas. The store carries the Women's Collection, Men's Purple Label and Polo Ralph Lauren. It's open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday. The same report called it a return to Hyde Park for the brand.
LoveShackFancy is the New York lifestyle label founded by Rebecca Hessel Cohen. Two more names are lined up a short walk away on Village Circle, and both are still unopened.
| Store | Address | Status as of Oct. 8, 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| LoveShackFancy | 1619 W. Snow Ave. | Opened July 10 |
| Ralph Lauren | 1609 W. Snow Ave. | Opened July 28 |
| Hill House Home | 704 S. Village Circle | Listed as "coming soon," fall target, no announced date |
| Rifle Paper Co. | 714 S. Village Circle | Listed as "coming soon," fall target, no announced date |
Hill House Home, the brand behind the Nap Dress, is still marked "COMING SOON!" on the Village's tenant page. That's So Tampa reported a fall 2026 target with no official opening date. In a Sept. 25 snapshot of city status, the buildout permit for the space was listed as issued. Rifle Paper Co., the stationery brand founded in Winter Park, is headed to 714 S. Village Circle. It also calls its Tampa store "Coming Soon" on its own store directory. WhatNow was still describing a fall opening on Sept. 2, and the same Sept. 25 snapshot showed that permit in revision. A permit only shows that work is moving, so the honest status for both is "not yet."
Once those two open, four of the Village's 2026 storefronts will belong to national lifestyle and apparel brands. None of the four seats diners.
Where the new dinner reservations went
New restaurants did open nearby this year. They opened on the rim. In opening order, walking outward from the Village:
- Howard & Platt, 301 S. Howard Ave. It opened Thursday, July 23, with a globally inspired dinner and brunch menu and a cocktail program. The operator is Disser Hospitality, which also runs neighboring Sunset Rodeo and ran the SOHO Saloon, which has since closed.
- Meeting House, 901 S. Howard Ave. Daily Eats served its last meal on June 15 so the space could be rebuilt under a new name. By Aug. 20, That's So Tampa reported that the room had reopened as Meeting House under Ciccio Restaurant Group. It serves lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.
- V Modern Italian, 202 N. Rome Ave. It sits in Rome Collective, the mixed-use development taking shape in North Hyde Park, and its opening was set for today, Oct. 8. That's So Tampa reported that by 8:45 a.m. on Oct. 6 the restaurant had been booked 300 times that morning alone.
The Meeting House changeover says the most about where Hyde Park's eating is heading. Its operators told That's So Tampa that dining habits have changed and fewer people go out for breakfast. That helped push the corner from a brunch institution toward a lunch-and-dinner menu of burgers, chicken tenders, sliders, tots and milkshakes. The kitchen sets its own "house rules" for ingredients: grass-fed beef, hormone- and antibiotic-free chicken, wild-caught seafood, and eggs from a local biocircular farm. Fries are hand-cut and fermented for three days, and the ketchup is made in-house. The corner has hosted a neighborhood restaurant for 75 years, first as Old Meeting House and then as Daily Eats, so the new name partly returns to the old one.
V Modern Italian is aimed squarely at the evening. It comes from Fast Fine Restaurant Group, developed by restaurant designer Benjamin Calleja and industry veteran Christian Lagerlöf. The group already runs locations in Sweden, Spain, Turkey, Belgium and Saudi Arabia. Its U.S. locations opened in Nashville in May 2025 and in Charleston this spring, and Tampa is the third. The menu covers antipasti, fresh pasta, oven-fired pizzas and wood-fired mains, developed in collaboration with Michelin-starred chef Stefano Ciotti. The cocktail and wine program is described as built for lingering.
That puts the new evening options outside the Village. Howard & Platt and Meeting House sit on South Howard to the east, and V Modern Italian is north of Kennedy on Rome Avenue. Village Circle got stores and Snow Avenue got storefronts, but the 2026 restaurant openings all landed past them.
What still brings people onto Village Circle this fall
With no new restaurant opening inside the Village, the reason to stay there past closing time this fall is the event calendar. Most of it runs on Village Circle itself, and much of it supports local causes.
| Date | Event | Where and when |
|---|---|---|
| Oct. 9–11 | Coastal Cowgirls Collective hat bar | Village Circle, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. |
| Oct. 10–25 | Pumpkin Patch | Village Circle, 3–6 p.m. Mon.–Thu., 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Fri.–Sun. |
| Oct. 14 and 21 | Storytime in the Patch | 10:30 a.m., patch reopens 12:30 p.m. |
| Oct. 22 | Halloween Bingo & BOOS | Hyde House HOME, 709 S. Oregon Ave., 7–9 p.m. |
| Oct. 24 | STROLL Hyde Park Pet Parade | 9 a.m.–noon, free |
| Nov. 1 | Fresh Market | 742 S. Village Circle, 10 a.m.–3 p.m. |
| Nov. 19 | Holiday Happening | 5:30–8 p.m., tree lighting at 7:45 p.m. |
| Dec. 6 | Fresh Market | 742 S. Village Circle, 10 a.m.–3 p.m. |
The Pumpkin Patch runs Oct. 10 through 25 at Village Circle, and proceeds benefit the Humane Society of Tampa Bay. According to Tampa Newsroom's preview, the patch is free to explore while supplies last. Coastal Cowgirls Collective sets up its custom cowboy and trucker hat bar from Oct. 9 through 11, and Storytime in the Patch runs at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 14 and 21. On weekdays the patch doesn't open until 3 p.m., so weekend mornings are the easy window for families with young children.
Halloween Bingo & BOOS is a That's So Tampa event with Hyde House HOME, held Oct. 22 from 7 to 9 p.m. at 709 S. Oregon Ave. The listing promises bingo, local prizes, a Halloween cocktail and bites from Ro. It's the only weeknight evening event on the October calendar.
The STROLL Hyde Park Pet Parade is complimentary and runs Saturday, Oct. 24, from 9 a.m. to noon, per the Village's event page. It lands the day before the Pumpkin Patch closes, so both fit into one morning.
The Fresh Market sets up on the first Sunday of every month from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 742 South Village Circle. October's market was Oct. 4, which leaves Nov. 1 and Dec. 6 on the 2026 calendar.
Holiday Happening on Nov. 19 runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m., with live music, a Tampa City Ballet performance, Santa, and the tree lighting at 7:45 p.m. Proceeds benefit The Children's Dream Fund. The Village calendar shows no separate December festival yet beyond the Dec. 6 market, and more events may still be added.
Putting the two halves of the neighborhood together
The fall calendar and the new restaurants fit together in practice. The Pumpkin Patch closes at 6 p.m. every day it runs, and Holiday Happening wraps at 8 p.m. A family leaving the patch on a Saturday evening or the tree lighting in November now has three restaurants that weren't open last fall within reach. Two are on South Howard, and the third is a few blocks north on Rome Avenue.
Inside the Village, Hill House Home and Rifle Paper Co. are the next openings to watch. If both open this fall as targeted, Snow Avenue and Village Circle will head into the holidays with four new national storefronts, and the closest new places to eat will still be outside the Village.
If you own a home a few blocks from Snow Avenue, these new storefronts and restaurant openings are part of what buyers will be looking at when they tour your street. Harvey Petty has worked in Hyde Park for more than 25 years and can tell you how this year's changes around the Village fit into your home's value. Get Your Home Valuation.
